Simon began his career by working as a field botanist in Northern Costa Rica. He subsequently worked as an environmental planner for a number of local authorities before joining the City of London as Head of Sustainable Development in 2000. In 2009 he was seconded to Defra to project manage the Local and Regional Adaptation Partnership for England.

British Land is one of the UK's leading commercial developers and property owners. In this capacity the company has embraced green roofs to assist with adapting their building stock to climate change, addressing issues related to corporate sustainability and exploring the potential to retrofit green roofs on their existing buildings.

Portland has been one of the pioneers in the development of green roofs, especially for stormwater management. Tom will discuss the evolution of green roofs alongside rain gardens and how the City sees green roofs going forward in the future.

Peter Allnutt has over 20 years experience working for various leading green roof companies in the UK an is working together with livingroofs.org, the Green Roof Centre and other companies to develop a code of practice in the UK which is an important element in their continued use.

Passionate about plants and sustainability, Ed has a wealth of knowledge as a grower of green roof plants in the US. He has recently published a book on green roof design principles and has a unique and engaging approach discussing green roof design.

Alun established one of the first home grown UK green roof companies over 13 years ago. He is an independent consultant with a wealth of experience both in developing systems and the contracting world.
