World Green Roof Congress, Copenhagen - 19-21 September 2012
The 2012 World Green Roof Congress will take place in Copenhagen and will bring together leading architects, designers and practitioners from around the world to highlight the need to green the urban grey.
Copenhagen’s Mandatory Green Roof Policy will provide an unique opportunity for architects, master planners and urban designers to understand the opportunities and challenges of greening cities through the use of green roof technologies. This will become increasingly important on a global scale as the 21st century becomes the century of the mega-city.
Cities are generally dry, hot and polluted. With climate change, cities will be increasingly affected by the urban heat island effect and flash flooding, Green roofs are recognised already across many areas of the world as an important mechanism to help cities adapt to climate change and improve the comfort and general environment of urban areas.
With the support of the Danish Ministry of the Environment, Realdania, the Lord Mayor and local Mayors of Copenhagen, this Congress will attract speakers and delegates from around the globe
The Congress is looking for case studies that demonstrate the evidence base for the delivery, value and benefits of green roofs and green walls. The final programme will reflect the papers and presentations provided but we are keen to have papers and presentations that cover eight themes (see below):
From the submitted abstracts, the Congress committee & review panel will ask successful entrants to provide full paper(s) for oral presentation. The abstracts and papers will be peer reviewed and those papers accepted will be presented at the Congress. Full papers and associated presentations will also be published electronically and be available post-congress.
