World Green Roof Congress 2010
Green Roofs For A Changing Climate
What it's about?
The World Green Roof Congress (WGRC) brings together leading green roof experts from across the world, providing a platform for communicating the latest case studies, research and policy initiatives. This exciting and respected congress drives the uptake and implementation of green roofs, providing a greater understanding of their benefits and stimulates innovation.
The previous WGRC was held in London, in 2008. This attracted over three hundred delegates from around 15 countries and numerous exhibitors. The Congress provides great opportunities for learning about research and leading edge applications with plenty of time for networking and promotional opportunities.
This stimulating Congress drives green roof implementation, allowing different sectors and disciplines to share an appreciation of their benefits and improve delivery.
CIRIA and Livingroofs.org with support from the European Federation of Green Buildings and others will deliver the WGRC. Furthermore, opportunities will be exploited to work with key media partners in the area of sustainability and ecological building design.
Objectives of the conference and Congress
The primary objective of the Congress is to share and disseminate good practice and celebrate the implementation of green roofs, demonstrating their contribution to sustainability in the built and natural environments. Specific objectives are to:
- disseminate knowledge and best practice on green roof implementation
- showcase the contribution green roofs can make to sustainable urban regeneration and climate change adaptation
- promote the different uses of green roofs and contribution to city life
- inspire those within the built environment sector to implement green roofs where ever practical and
- provide a forum for all stakeholders to discuss and drive the implementation of green roofs.
Who should attend
The target audience for the conference includes clients, consultants, contractors and manufacturers from the built environment sector. It also includes policy and decision makers from the public and private sectors. There are opportunities for practitioners and researchers to showcase the science and evidence behind green roofs.
Activities of the London Congress 2010
A two day conference at the prestigious offices of Allen & Overy will be central to the Congress. It will provide a forum for recognised experts to discuss the opportunities delivered by green roofs. The focus will be on their application and delivery covering aspects such as climate change adaptation, storm water management, biodiversity, and the potential for a higher quality of urban living, within a challenging regulatory and competitive financial framework.
